Phoenix Engineering Company was started in August 1985 after a need was recognised for an independent refilling and refurbishing company in the Dorset area, as support for the large number of small Fire Extinguisher companies operating here.

After two to three years spent establishing the company and gaining the respect and loyalty of our customers, we expanded the business into the supply of new fire equipment. This completed the full range of services that a trade support company could offer.

Although the company was started specifically as a service provider to the fire trade and has remained primarily a trade supplier, the testing facilities we require to undertake pressure testing of fire extinguishers, allowed the company to consider the expansion of this aspect of the business into wider fields. Making a small number of refinements and improvements to our test equipment, we have been able to undertake the testing of Breathing Air, Sub-Aqua cylinders and life raft cylinders. Ongoing improvements have opened a variety of additional avenues for the testing of pressure vessels of many types.

Having moved to larger premises in 1993, we were able to expand our horizons from customers in our immediate area to additional areas by offering a collection and delivery services within an area of approximately 150 miles.

During the last three years we have secured a contract to assemble carbon dioxide extinguishers for one of Europe's largest extinguisher manufacturers for the UK Under BSI Kitemark Licence. This blend of new and refurbishing work will secure our business in the marketplace for the foreseeable future.
